Family heirlooms and jewellery passed down the generations often hold a treasured place in jewellery boxes. Worn daily, or on special occasions, these pieces continue to be part of your life story and are loved for the memories they hold as well as their aesthetic appeal. However, not all cherished jewellery items are worn. Some have been broken or deteriorated over time, or are simply not a practical or wearable style. This is where ‘second life’ comes in.

Second life aims to give new purpose to much loved items, recrafting them into more appealing, personalised styles for continued wear. It also enables old, discarded, or broken pieces to be recycled into unique jewellery items which have been designed with the wearer in mind.

When considering how to repurpose jewellery, consider which precious metals have been used and the gemstones available. One ring or necklace can be deconstructed and used across multiple items, or alternatively separate pieces can be reworked together to create a bangle or earrings. We can also source additional materials to achieve the desired outcome.

I am only able to repurpose items made from gold, silver, or platinum, and the quality of a gemstone may dictate how it can be reused. If you are unsure how to identify the materials your preloved jewellery is made from, please contact me for guidance. I can also offer full design services and a clear quotation to help you decide whether to proceed.
