At Woo by Design, the foundations of my business focus on achieving a sustainable and ethical practice. They are at the heart of what I do. The jewellery industry has long been linked with destructive processes across the globe, but it also has the power to provide income and growth in developing countries if more sustainable actions are adopted.

The majority of precious metals I use are either recycled or repurposed from pre-loved items. I use recycled silver from stock and RJC accredited suppliers. The use of recycled materials reduces the need for mining and its potential environmental impacts.

When sourcing new gold, I only work with Single Mine Origin gold. This is fully traceable back to the origin mine and offers complete accountability and assurance of responsible practices. After each project, all metal offcuts and filings are collected to be used in the future, so nothing is wasted.

I am always keen to reuse and repurpose gemstones wherever possible. However, if a project requires me to source new, I am proud to work with trusted suppliers to find responsibly sourced, conflict free, and traceable gemstones. Ethical sourcing means beautiful bespoke jewellery can be enjoyed conscience free.

As part of my pledge for minimal environmental impact, my jewellery workshop, situated at the end of my garden, is powered by solar panels and battery storage. The Isle of Wight is also one of the sunniest places in the UK, which enables me to run the workshop efficiently all year round!
