Item: Bespoke Platinum Diamond Engagement Ring

Materials: Platinum, 1.5ct princess cut diamond, 0.5ct emerald cut diamond shoulders, and hand engraving.
Brief: To design and create a bespoke platinum and diamond engagement ring, featuring an Isle of Wight engraving hidden within the platinum setting.
I was approached by K&D to design and create a bespoke platinum diamond engagement ring with a strong sense of place and meaning. From the beginning, it was important to them that the ring was designed and made locally on the Isle of Wight. This provided an even greater personal connection to an important and symbolic piece of jewellery.
K came to the studio with a clear idea for the finished engagement ring. At the centre, a 1.5ct princess cut diamond, chosen for its clean lines, symmetry, and contemporary look. To complement the centre stone, emerald cut diamonds were selected for the shoulders, creating a crisp and elegant balance within the platinum setting.
We discussed the specification in detail, including the diamond grading, proportions, and overall style of the piece. K had already expressed a preference for platinum and this was chosen for its durability and beautiful soft silver tone.
Once the design had been refined, I created a final proposal for approval. This gave K&D the opportunity to see how the platinum engagement ring would come together before the making process began and to ensure every detail felt considered and right for them.
Before the diamonds were set, K&D visited the studio again to view the stones under magnification. Seeing the diamonds in this way allowed them to appreciate the precision, clarity, and individual character of each stone before they became part of the finished bespoke ring.
To make the ring even more personal to the happy couple, a hand engraved profile of the Isle of Wight was added to the rear of the setting. It is a subtle detail, but one that gives this bespoke engagement ring a quiet connection to where it was made and to the place K&D call home.
The finished engagement ring combines classic materials with a very personal story: a platinum setting, a striking princess cut diamond, elegant emerald cut diamond shoulders, and a hidden Isle of Wight engraving that makes the piece truly unique to them.
This was a wonderful example of how bespoke jewellery can reflect more than style alone. By involving K&D throughout the process, from the first conversation to viewing the diamonds and approving the final design, the ring became part of their story before it was even worn.
